The UK is now getting back to the Workplace
It’s taken quite some time but it looks like the UK is now finally back to work IN the workplace rather than working from home all the time. Covid19 was a particularly tough time for may people and businesses but one or two things that did come out of the pandemic was that the UK wasn’t in a rush to get back in the workplace and a lot of jobs that could actually be done from home with productivity, mainly, not affected.
But in 2024 the UK has been flocking back to the workplace and that means a rise in demand for jobs and opportunities as employees get their careers back on track. Some jobs, of course, can not be done from the home and the Automotive industry is one of those sectors that is mainly based in the field ie. At a garage, factory, office or showroom, and even the roadside in certain jobs!
Most employers will still let employees work from home at least one day a week if they feel they need to, but in most cases the workplace is BACK!!
Team banter, collaboration with work, human interaction, Team building times, Training and development and career growth are just some of the up sides to being back in the workplace and around like minded others.
In the automotive industry there are few jobs that you can do from home, however it’s not impossible. BUT the office or workplace environment is definitely busy in 2024.
Our candidate count is up 20% and we are placing more and more people back into roles that require hands on working. We use our database to inform previous applicants of the opportunities we have and more and more are taking up the options and making a return to a better job and hands on working.
The office team ‘jolly’ is also making a slow comeback to normal working life. Here at Octane once a quarter we all head out for some food and drinks and there’s normally some silly activities to have a go at and a laugh together. It brings us all together and just enjoying the relaxed atmosphere with a few drinks and laughs. It helps to get the team closer and invigorates the drive people have doing their job on a daily basis. You can’t do that working at home.
Is working from home a good or bad thing?
It can be both. If you get to used to being in your own company and not really interacting with a human in person, your life becomes one big online bubble. Once you have finished work it’s likely that you will also spend a bit of time on your own socials and online platforms thus turning your life into one big online session. That isn’t healthy as you will, over time, lose personal skills, the ability to tolerate other people and situations and most of all, there’s nobody to learn from no matter how old you are.
However, sometimes we all just need a ‘quiet’ day where we sit, concentrate and drive forward with work without any interruptions. It’s not a bad thing and helps some people who have complicated and busy jobs to get maybe more done than in an active and vibrant office environment. Mix the two together and you have a productive, hardworking and loyal workforce who give everything to help the company succeed in its targets and goals, whilst improving their own careers and earning a great wage for the work done.
Everyone is a winner!!
